large diameter (?shielded) plate vertical looked almost like turtle underside w/ shine like opalescence [reminded me of sons old yu-ghi-oh shiny cards], then large long bright red laser beam in south eastern sky about 8 pm. East sky has been weird all month between 7-9 pm when I take dog out and is random no steady pattern. But this night was like OMG is that a battle in the sky. I am a boring student not a geek, nerd, or chaser. Never experienced anything like before. Live in Midwest.
